Hospital Infractions - Please read these rules

Please review the following.  This is a set of rules that apply to the ValleyCare setting, but I'd like all of you to review, print and put in your CC binder.  I just became aware of several reports of inappropriate behavior at ValleyCare and I am very upset. Please read the blog every evening and check out the HW due on 12/12 on last night's blog. Thank you.


Rules to Know

1.       Hair back

2.       One pair of stud earrings

3.       White shoes  ( for my students black, navy or white - and clean)

4.       In uniform

5.       No colored hair

6.       Very natural colored nails, short nails that do not extend past the fingertips

7.       No cell phone at site, keep it in the car

8.       No running

9.       No eating

10.   Don’t take food from patient

11.   No heavy makeup

12.   No pictures taken

13.   No leaving early

14.   If nurses offer you food, be thankful and put it by your binder, don’t eat it

15.   Never sit and do nothing

16.   Don’t laugh

17.   Be professional

18.   You must be confidential (HIPAA)

19.   Always wear name tag

20.   Gel in - gel out

21.   Observe with interest

22.   Hand washing skills

23.   Never talk about your personal information

24.   Never use names of patients

25.   Act like you want to be there

26.   Show passion

27.   Flu vaccine

28.   Immunization records

29.   Contracts (confidentiality and phone)
 
30.  Prepare for tests

31.   Park in designated parking area

32.   Be on time (be 15 minutes early)

33.   Know your codes

34.   Call Mrs. Erceg if you are late, out, or stay late

35.   Call the department if you are out

36.   No perfumes

37.   Don’t take anyone else’s job

38.   No drugs or alcohol

39.   Look at signs on doors

40.   No colorful jackets

41.   Keep uniform clean

42.   Make connections with co-workers

43.   Do not go in break room

44.   Be honest if not comfortable with something

45.   Act professional in awkward situations

46.   Dispose of waste properly

47.   Negative 2 step TB test

48.   Involve yourself in any opportunity

49.   Always ask what you can help with

50.   Always ask what you can do to make a patient more comfortable

51.   Don’t bring personal life into the hospital

52.   No long sleeves under your uniform (ask Mrs. Erceg about this)

53.   Be appreciative

54.   Be appropriate

55.   Smile

56.   Have a positive attitude

57.   Listen carefully

58.   Ask questions when you are not around the patient

59.   Ask questions if you don’t understand something

60.   Repeat the information given to you back so you know it’s right

61.   Pay attention to everything that is going on

62.   Be gentle with the patients

63.   Be nice to the nurses and/or staff

64.   Leave any bad feelings out of the hospital

65.   Always say hello when you walk in

66.   When you go into a patient's room, tell them who you are and what you are there for

67.   Learn quickly the normal things you should do every day before you ask the nurses

68.   Don’t chew gum

69.   Don’t spin in chairs

70.   If you aren’t allowed to do something that they ask you to, tell them you aren’t allowed to or you are not licensed or certified

71.   Give them your calendars

72.   Let them know often during the week if you have a break the next week so they aren’t shocked

73.   Know military time

74.   Know what blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration is (vital signs)

75.   Don’t be shy

76.   It’s better to ask than to never know

77.   You should want to do stuff so ask, it won’t hurt
