Procedure and Diagnosis - the "What" and the "Why"

Hello Billers and Coders!

You are now capable of looking up codes for medical doctors!  Dental and Veterinary students...you have codes that are specific to your areas.  In your training, find out how billing works in your offices too.  This is a wonderful career that can make you a lot of money if you end up managing a billing and coding department.  You career area would be "Health Information Management Specialist"...fancy!

Homework:  Go to www.about.com and look up "resume high school student" and start on a resume.  No employment experience?  List out all volunteer work for now, or do a bulleted list of your accomplishment and skills.  Add what you have learned in Medical Occupations!!! Check your binder and syllabus for ideas. TYPE THIS UP and have it ready to turn in November 5th.  Get help and please, no spelling or grammar errors.  Ask a parent or your English teacher to proofread it for you.

Next, create a new portfolio cover and bring it in as soon as possible.  In large font (36) and bold, type toward the top, CAREER PORTFOLIO.  Under that, insert a professional medical, dental or veterinary photo/graphic.  Then, TYPE YOUR NAME, first and last under the graphic.  CENTER on the page.  Have that ready a.s.a.p.!!!  All students must have this done and ready for the portfolio on Monday, November 5th.  Don't procrastinate - do it right away and bring in the resume too.

SKILLS LAB STARTS TOMORROW:  Read over http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/electrocardiogram  Make sure you read it over.....we will review how to do an EKG.

RETURN BP CUFFS and STETHASCOPES -  JENNIFER M., EMANUEL, AND KEANDRA

Take care and see you tomorrow!
